Applied Mathematics

Details

The next Dublin Applied Maths Meetup will be an in-person event once again rather than online..

We'll have 4 speakers, each will have the floor for about 20 minutes to talk about a topic related to applied maths.

Philip Kinlen will talk about the mathematics behind bitcoin, focusing on the Sha256 hashing algorithm.

Tom Ambrose, from Riot Games, will give a talk entitled The Syntontic Comma. He will explore the issues that arise when attempting to play music using pure intonation, which reimagines musical intervals as whole number ratios.

The third speaker will be Prof David Malone from Maynooth University who will give a talk entitled "Can you find someone using a dumb smart watch"?

Prof Peter Lynch will give a talk entitled: Image Processing Emerges from the Shadows.

With thanks to Riot Games for offering to host the event and for supplying refreshments.
