North Bull Island. 🐦

North Bull Island is particularly good because it combines mudflats, saltmarsh, dunes, beach and grassland, attracting a huge variety of birds. It’s also a UNESCO Biosphere area.

🐦 What to Expect

The outing is aimed at enjoying birds and nature together, whether you’re an experienced birder or completely new to birdwatching.

We will:

• 🚶 Walk at a relaxed pace, stopping regularly to look and listen for birds.
• 🔭 Use binoculars to observe birds without disturbing them.
• 🐦 Look for a variety of shorebirds, waders, gulls, ducks and other coastal species.
• 👂 Learn how to identify birds by both their appearance and calls.
• 🌊 Explore different habitats around North Bull Island, including the beach, dunes and wetlands.
• 📸 Have opportunities for bird photography.
• 💬 Share knowledge and help beginners get comfortable using binoculars and identifying species.
• 🌿 Respect the wildlife and keep a safe distance from birds, particularly feeding and nesting areas.

Most importantly: there’s no pressure to identify everything! The goal is to enjoy the outdoors, learn something new and hopefully discover some interesting birds along the way. 🐦🔭
