What we’re about
Dublin Creative Writers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides education and community for creative writers in Ohio and beyond. We strive to support authors in achieving literary excellence and pursuing publication opportunities.
Calling all creative writers! Whether you're a plotter or a pantser, published or unpublished, if you're a working writer of fiction in the Columbus, Ohio area, this group is for you. Dublin Creative Writers aims to provide a supportive and constructive environment for writers of all genres and experience levels. Again, please note, our focus is on writing fiction. Our sessions include write-ins, technical/craft workshops, writing prompts, mutual critique, and book discussions.
Dublin Creative Writers is an all-volunteer organization supported entirely by member donations. We'd be grateful for your support! All donations are used to support the creative growth and professional advancement of our membership. You can contribute through MeetUp fundraising, set up a recurring pledge, or visit our website to make a one-time donation.
Check out our short story collections published by Spark Street Media:
- Broken Promises: An Anthology
- Desiderium: An Anthology
- Dead of Winter: An Anthology
- Untold Stories: An Anthology
We expect our members to maintain a respectful environment. Keep critiques and discussions civil and constructive, and leave the politics and controversial topics at home (unless they're fictional!).
All material discussed, critiqued, or otherwise shared with the group is the sole and exclusive property of the author.

•OnlineONLINE: October Writing Contest - Face Your Fears!
OnlineThis month's contest will be hosted by Marília!
Since it's the time of the year for all things spooky, for this month's contest, your challenge is to write a story inspired by your fears (in writing).
If you struggle with writing in third person, do that. Struggle with romance? Do romance. The thought of writing a story in 50 words terrifies you? Do that! The point is, get out of your comfort zone!
The story must feature Halloween in theme or setting! And extra points if you also include your real life fears (spiders, snakes, ghosts, dark alleys, abandoned houses, public speaking, etc).
Length: minimum of 50 words, maximum of 1000 words.
Submissions due: 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, October 20th.
To submit your entry, email it to jen@dublincreativewriters.com. Please do NOT include your name anywhere in your document.
Join the contest session on Tuesday, October 28th, to hear Marília's feedback on each piece. The winning piece has the option to be featured on our website!
ATTENTION: ALL the submitted stories are also eligible to be published in Caveat Lector, the literary Substack masterminded by DCW's very own Jared Brown! You can opt out of consideration if you prefer.
Hosting a contest is easy and really fun! Interested? Sign up here (and email Jen with any questions).
