Around the Wicklow Mountains CW

Distance 160km, 2500m of climbing.

#This route is only suitable for very fit cyclists.

This is the last big ride to prepare for the Wicklow200 before the ramp down for the event.

For this cycle, we are going to cycle around the Wicklow Mountains clockwise. See link to komoot map:

Here is the plan for the day:

1. Leave from the Swan Leisure Centre
2. Cycle to Enniskerry where we'll stop for a quick coffee.
3. Cycle to Glencree then head South to Glendalough where we'll have a longer stop for food/water.
4. Cycle South along the Wicklow Way then follow backroads until we reach Blessington where we'll have another stop for food/water.
5. Cycle back to where we started via backroads and R114.

A lovely, but brutal day of cycling. I highly recommend bringing plenty of food and water for this cycle if you haven't ridden like this before. Carbs and water are key. I try to consume 0.5L of water and 30g - 50g of carbs per hour on rides like this.

Please wear a helmet and bring a tube etc in case you get a puncture.
