The mountains of Mourne cycle

Distance 80km. Climb 730m
We are kicking off the summer with a favourite spin , a loop of the spectacular Mourne mountains in Country Down, taking in its wonderful scenery with a couple of its testing climbs.
A lot to see on this route so have a good breakfast, after we leave Rostrevor it's hills all the way!
The day begins and ends with a lovely ferry crossing of Carlingford lough.
🚗🚗 IMPORTANT: If you are driving up and can offer a lift, or if you would like to come along but don't have transport please indicate when signing up or on discussions below.
Here is the plan for the day.
1️⃣ We park in Carlingford and cycle 6km to get the 10 am ferry from Greenore
2️⃣ A quick coffee stop in the Church Cafe in Rostrevor before tackling the hills.
3️⃣It's then a steady ascent by Rostrevor forest followed by a very steep section up to Spelga Dam.
4️⃣ Undulating to the Silent Valley where we cycle up to Ben Crom reservoir.
5️⃣ Lunch at Silent Valley then descending most of the back to Greencastle ferry, and back to Carlingford.
⛑ Please wear a helmet and bring a spare tube in case you get a puncture.
Please note - It is every participant's responsibility to ride safely, follow the rules of the road, and come prepared with the proper equipment.
