Talk & Trek: Sunday language exchange outdoors

Ready to practice your language skills while taking in the sights? Join us for a relaxed Sunday morning walk where we’ll chat in different languages, sip coffee/tea from our flasks or cups, and enjoy some of the best views in the area.

This is not a formal language exchange—there’s no pressure, no awkward structures or game events that feel unnatural - and for my fellow active humans, absolutely no need to sit at a table for two hours drinking beer you didn't want to pay for! This is just a casual stroll where we chat freely in various languages, depending on the group and it's 100% free.

Whether you're a beginner or fluent, you're welcome to join and practice at your own pace. The goal is simply to have natural conversations while enjoying the fresh air and a leisurely walk.

How it works?
1. I ask what languages besides English we want to practice
2. I ask if native speakers of any of those languages are present
3. I form groups of learners + native speakers (if present) for the walk
4. After half an hour - we switch - those native speakers of other languages who want to practice English can chat to me and other native speakers who want to share as well. Others can stick with fellow language learners and/or natives who still want to speak their language to keep practicing their languages. People can also switch to another language they want to practice as well.
5. After an hour, it's less structured - chat to whoever you want. Maybe learn a few works in a new language and learn about the culture of others there, or keep practicing the languages you want to with those who can speak them too.

NB: if we've a big group, be patient with me while I sign up people and work out the groups and languages for the walk. If no one comes for your language, maybe you can think of learning a few words in a new language as a surprise!

So, grab your warm drink, wear something comfy, and come for a stroll with us! We’ll meet at Dun Laoghaire East Pier at 11am. If there's a wish for diversity, we may have future events in other lovely spots around Dublin (the grand canal, the botanical gardens, killiney hill etc). We'll walk at an easy pace. It’s all about the chat, and the good vibes, and of course, the language and culture sharing!

Bring: a coat, drinks/snacks, and your umbrella if needed! Most importantly, bring yourself and your love of languages :)

NB: also feel free to leave when you prefer. But please arrive on time as the group will be walking and so we won't be at the meeting spot once you arrive late.
