About us
This is a group for anyone interested in the history of Dublin city and county. Come along if you want to share stories about the people and places - or if you want to learn more about this fine city! The Organiser Team are all volunteers, who love heritage and schedule a wide variety of events related to Dublin history, such as the Viking city, Georgian Dublin, Dublin Tenements, The Liberties, 1916, Famous Parks, Dublin Writers, Landmarks etc. The group is now 10 years old but - with a thousand years of history at our fingertips - the list of things to do is endless!
Code of Conduct:
At present, we are closed to new members. We hope to be welcoming new members shortly. Watch this space!
The group is intentionally relaxed, informal and friendly. We focus on having a smaller group of active members, so regularly remove members who are inactive. We are in the process of introducing a €5 membership fee.
As a minimum, the following code of conduct is expected of all members:
- If you say you'll attend.. then attend! No shows/last minute drop outs ruin the fun for everyone. We do track them and a member may be removed if they have a poor track record
- No using the group for commercial enterprise, the group is deliberately non-profit \
- No abuse of the organisers/other members
Any members in breach of this code will be removed from the group.
Health & Safety: Events are organised with H&S in mind (max numbers, no unsafe venues/destinations etc.), however, each member attends events at their own risk.

Curraghmore, meaning great bog, is the last of 4 castles built by the de la Poer family after their arrival in Ireland in 1167. The Castle walls are about 12 feet thick and within one, a tight spiral stairway connects the lower ground floor with the roof above.
In more than 800 years the property has passed through the female line once only and that was prior to Catherine de la Poer marrying Sir Marcus Beresford in 1717 when she was just a teenager. Together with her husband, it was she who carried out much of the remodelling of the house and grounds and it was Lady Catherine who created the unique Shell-house herself.
The quality of the craftsmanship employed on the developments on Curraghmore through the ages, has secured the House’s reputation as one of the most important country houses in Ireland.

It can take up to 36 hours for the unpaid by your name to change to paid, don't worry we will not remove your name from the going list without speaking to you.

Minibus will meet us and take us to Curraghmore House
Lunch in the Organic Cafe that is being specially opened for us.
They are sending us a menu and you will be asked to select your meal in advance. Everyone is expected to eat in the cafe.
14:00 Tour of the house followed by a tour of the gardens.
15:30 Minibus back to Waterford
We will have a little time to have a coffee in Waterford before returning to the station for the 18:25 train to Dublin.
