Set in the beautiful Barrow Valley in Co. Carlow, Borris House is one of the most picturesque country houses in Ireland.
Built in 1731 by Morgan Kavanagh of the McMurrough Kavanagh dynasty.
During the Great Hunger, Lady Harriet Kavanagh opened a lacemaking factory to provide employment for the women of Borris.
When Arthur McMurrough Kavanagh inherited Borris House, despite being born without arms or legs, he focused on redeveloping the estate and the village to benefit his tenants and constructing the Borris Visduct.
Our guide is Amanda Pitcairn.
Unfortunately public transport is not an option, so we will have to drive. It would be nice if drivers could offer nondrivers a list.
Nondrivers are expected to share fuel costs.

Please only put your name down for this event if you ACTUALLY INTEND GOING. The number of late change of rsvps, no-shows and people staying on the Going list even though they HAVE MADE OTHER PLANS, etc., has become a huge problem for organisers. It is very disrespectful to organisers after all the work we put into events. In many cases, we do a reccy beforehand to ensure transport, etc., runs smoothly on the day. This is all at the organiser's own expense.
