This is an enchanting tour.
It is my favourite place of all the Meet-ups I have organised to date.

Public Transport:

Bus C3 stops on Aston Quay in front of Abigails Hostel (Stop No. 7392) which goes to Maynooth and stops at the church in Leixlip village.
On getting off the bus, go straight on where you see a yellow house at the top of the road, take a right and then a sharp left.

Leixlip Castle was built around 1172 by the Norman Knight Adam de Hereford.
This castle is one of Ireland's oldest continuously inhabited buildings. Perched above the River Liffey and the Rye Water in County Kildare, the castle has served as a royal hunting base, a fortress, and the 20th-century epicenter of Ireland's architectural heritage revival.
It has passed through many hands and has been in the ownership of the late Mr. Desmond Guinness and his family since 1958.
Among the many aspects of the castle that will be shown to visitors is the large 18th Century Dolls House, Drawings of the Mitford sisters and 17th Century Brussels tapestry depicting Theodotus offering the head of Pompey to Caesar.

It is a fifteen minute walk from the main street to the castle.
It is a twenty minute walk from the train station to the castle.

Drivers:
Free parking at Our Lady’s’ Nativity Church in the town.

We will be going for a cuppa in the village afterwards, this is optional.

Everyone is responsible for their own Health & Safety.

RSVP deadline is the day before at 2pm.

I look forward to seeing you there.
