While Christmas is often a time of happiness, joy and gatherings with friends and family, it can also be a period when grief feels especially heavy. For those who have lost someone, whether a friend, a family member or even a beloved pet, Christmas can serve as a stark reminder of life’s changes, and feelings of emptiness or loneliness can feel particularly strong amid the festive celebrations around us.
With this in mind, I am organising the first Dublin Christmas Grief Walk . If you would like to join, please contact me beforehand, and feel free to bring supporters along. The walk will be an easy route around the Hell Fire Club , followed by an optional visit to Timbertrove Café . This will be a simple nature walk with a community who quietly understands, providing a space to reflect in nature away from the pressures of the holiday season.
I am no therapist, but someone who empathises with the feelings that Christmas can bring when you have experienced loss. I understand how difficult this time can be, and I want to offer a gentle reminder that you are not alone in your feelings. My goal is to create a sense of uplift within a community at a time that can often feel isolating.
If you are bringing friends or family along I ask you try to car share as there is limited parking in the carpark (plus it is more sustainable!).
Please note that this event is not covered by insurance and should not replace professional therapy if you are struggling. Small cost of €2 to help cover the Meetup organisation fee.
I hope to see you there! Isabel
