The Newpark Academy of Music Big Band carries forward the rich legacy of jazz with energy, expertise, and an ever-evolving sound. Rooted in the deep musical and social history of the genre, the ensemble continues to contribute to the vibrant landscape of big band jazz, performing classic works by legends such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and more.
Under the direction of acclaimed bandleader and saxophonist Brendan Doyle, the Newpark Big Band features some of Ireland’s foremost jazz musicians. This year’s lineup includes special guest soloist Scott Flanigan on Hammond Organ, along with Joe Walters on bass trombone and Michael Barkley on trumpet — each bringing their own dynamic voice to the stage.

A key part of the ensemble’s mission is education and community. The Newpark Big Band Summer Camp is the only program of its kind in Ireland, offering students the rare opportunity to hone their skills in a large ensemble setting while connecting with fellow musicians and professionals in the jazz world.
