June 27th Node.js Dublin: Observability in containers and The UN Call-for-Code!

Welcome to June's meetup! We're delighted to welcome 2 speakers this month. Anton Whalley, Conor O'Neill.

First Speaker:
Anton Whalley is a client technical professional at IBM Cloud with around 20 years’ experience in delivering web technology.
His core focus is bringing cloud technologies and practices to organisations that are looking to accelerate their adoption of modern software techniques.
He's also a member of the Node.JS organisation where he generally supports native userland components.

Talk Title: Node.js Observability in Containers – Turning on the lights in the dark corners of production

Talk Intro:
This talk will be an introduction to extended Berkley Packet Filters (eBPF) with a deep dive into how it can be used to support site reliability engineers and developers who need to investigate issues with Node.JS processes in container environments. The session will also include a demonstration of how this technology can be used with public Kubernetes services.

Second Speaker:
Conor O'Neill: Conor (@conoro) is Chief Product Officer at NearForm and Chief Badge Maker Extraordinaire for NodeConf EU! You'll also find Conor tinkering away with all sorts of hardware in his spare time.

Talk Title: The Call for Code 2019 Global Challenge

Talk Intro:
NearForm recently took part in the inaugural UN Human Rights Office and IBM Call-for-Code event in Geneva. In this talk, Conor will describe the proposal his team devised and explain how you can take part in this important initiative. And yes, it involves Node.js :-)
