CSS Architecture by John Craddock

John Craddock is a UX/UI developer at Adaptemy, an educational technology startup in Dublin. Adaptemy took the opportunity of the 2015 school holidays to complete a frontend re-write of their web application. This talk will deal with the new CSS structure they implemented and the learnings they acquired along the way.

This talk will review techniques for organising CSS and highlight the common mistakes and pitfalls which can lead to bloated code. John will also cover how using techniques borrowed from other development languages can keep CSS files manageable in large projects.

Adaptemy's new CSS architecture went live in September. John will review the work practices they've developed since then to keep their CSS code in good order. He will share their processes for working as a diverse team on the same codebase.

Usability Testing Tools by Paddy McShane from Optimal Workshop

New Zealand based company Optimal Workshop now has a European base here in Dublin and we have Paddy in to talk to us about their tools.

Optimal Workshop provide a suite of usability tools that help improve your website navigation, define information architecture, understand first-clicks, capture qualitative research, and more.

Paddy's talk will be a whistle-stop tour of Optimal Workshop's Suite of tools which includes Treejack, OptimalSort and Chalkmark. The tools have been helping usability researchers, designers and information architects improve the user experience of their products since 2004.
