A design is successful when it meets users' requirements and when it helps them to solve their problems; by designing User Centered Design solutions, designers are able to deliver outcomes that users desire, need or that can even go beyond their expectations.

Whether if you are designing to solve a very complex problem, or trying to disrupt the market and create innovation, or simply satisfy a basic user need, as a designer you need to know everything about the people you are designing for.

The goal of this talk is to make UX professionals aware of the importance of User Research in a design project. I will share my knowledge around the User Research methods I’m most familiar with, explaining how and when to use them in your workflow. I will also show you how you can run a workshop to collect data from your users, and how to use this data in other phases of your design project, including workshops with your product design team

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Diego Dalia (https://twitter.com/DiegoDalia) is a Lead Designer with a background in Service & Interaction Design. Since 2015 he has been based in Dublin, where he works at IBM Design (https://twitter.com/ibmdesign) as a Service & Interaction Design Lead.

During his career, he has served in a broad range of roles, designing digital products and services in several sectors. He is passionate about designing interactions, delivering new experiences to users, and developing new systems for products & services.

Diego is actively involved in the Irish UX community, where he founded the UXcamp Dublin (http://uxcampdublin.com/), and where is currently working on some new projects, such as the Ireland chapter of the Service Design Network (https://www.service-design-network.org/), and the collective “Design Mentors (https://twitter.com/DesignMentors)”, which aims to provide free-of-charge mentoring services to designers.
