Evolving Design Maturity
A talk by Matthew Ovington, Director of User Experience at Travelport Digital

Matthew is Director of User Experience at Travelport Digital. He was formerly Director of Product Design at Paddy Power. Before that he founded Open Interface, an agency specialising in usability and accessibility in 2002. Matthew started his career as a usability engineer in 2000 at Nua, a digital consultancy. He has worked in many different areas in the UX field for a variety of public and private sector organisations - primarily in user research and information architecture. He has over 15 years' experience leading design teams.

Organisations that get design are more successful than those that don’t. Their customers spend more and stay loyal. Yet there are lots of successful organisations that have been successful without “getting” design but still want to reap the benefits. These organisations are growing up in a world where user experience is becoming the competitive differentiator. How can designers who find themselves working in these organisations help evolve design maturity? Where should they start? And should designers be expected to lead this change? In this talk Matthew will speak about his experiences raising design maturity, what works and what doesn’t how designers can go about changing their environment for the better.

This talk is aimed at any designer interested in influencing the level of design maturity within their organisation.
