Trustly Duchess Meetup - Introduction to Apache Kafka and reactive java.

Details

Welcome to an introduction of Apache Kafka. In todays software solutions we can see a shift from the more traditional data driven design to more event driven design and streaming systems. In this session we will discuss how Apache Kafka is used to handle event streaming traffic and we will discuss concepts such as topics, partitioning, consumer groups etc. We will also look in to the basics of reactive programming using the non-blocking Reactive Streams java API and investigate the use of Mono, Flux, Publisher, Subscriber among others.

After the session with the introduction we will divide into groups and do some hands on programming in group / mob sessions to test out the api and the various functions.

Bring your laptop!!

The session is open to members of Duchess Sweden - a group for women interested in Software Engineering around the JVM.
Guests/Men are welcome to this session as well, and if you don't know anyone in the Duchess group to join as a guest, please send an email to helena@hjerten.com and we will add you to this meetup event.
