Duchess meetup - Women in Tech @ Jfokus 2020

Welcome to a meetup in collaboration with Jfokus 2020.

Jfokus is one of the largest developer conferences in Sweden and covers a wide variety of technologies mainly in the JVM area, but also in areas such as AI, Machine learning, Internet of Things, Web development etc.

All Duchess members are now welcome to a meetup that will take place parallell to the conference and we are happy to see a few of the speakers from this years Jfokus at our meetup. Feel free to bring guests as well (men also welcome as guests).

Schedule:

18:30 - meet and mingle on Floor 2 ( 2 floors down from the entrance)
19:00 - Talks from Jfokus Speakers.
20:30 - move over to the Jfokus Bar on 5th floor and continue the evening.

## “Women bridging the Tech Chasm” - with Mary W Grygleski, IBM: ##

This talk aims at exploring the special qualities in women and how we can turn those into valuable assets for building up a strong collaborative technical team environment.

Mary is currently a Java Developer Advocate at IBM, specializing in Reactive Java systems. She continues to be amazed by how software innovations can dramatically transform our lives.

## “Event Streaming Smörgåsbord” - with Anna McDonald, Confluent: ##

Event streaming is becoming more and more popular, in this talk will go over the different types of event patterns and how to implement each in apache kafka.

Anna McDonald is a Senior Technical Account Manager at Confluent. She specializes in integration architecture and her love of all things technical is matched only by her love of math puns.

## “Java Garbage Collector” - with Monica Bechwith, Microsoft ##

Monica will help us dig in the the inner secrets of the Java Garbage Collector.

Java Champion Monica Beckwith is considered a subject matter expert, has several published articles and regularly gives talks on JVM/JIT Compilation/Garbage Collection (GC). Her past also includes leading Oracle’s first Garbage Collector performance team.

## “How to find your dream job” - with Marion Schleifer, Hasura ##

Marion will share her thoughts on how to find the job of your dreams, how to handle interviews and negitiations and other useful things in our work life.

Marion is a Developer Experience Engineer at Hasura working closely with the developer community and making sure they have a smooth experience with their GraphQL APIs
