🥌 Intro to Curling – DT Friend Adventure!

Have you been bitten by the curling bug — or are you just curious what all the sweeping is about? Join Jen for a beginner-friendly Intro to Curling class at ION International Training Center in Leesburg!
This is a relaxed, first-timer-friendly experience — no skating required and absolutely no experience needed. Just come ready to try something new, laugh a little, and spend time with fellow DT members.
This is a welcoming, beginner-friendly event — women, trans, and nonbinary members are warmly encouraged to join.

### 💳 Cost & registration (important!)

• This event has a per-person cost (recent classes have been about $30), paid directly through registration
• Registration is required and handled by a third-party system
• Please note: RSVP’ing alone does not hold a spot
• This class is open to the general public, but we’re aiming for a DT takeover night
• If registration fills up, we won’t be able to add additional participants

### 👟 What to wear

• Closed-toe athletic shoes (clean soles; no heels or open shoes)
• Warm, comfortable layers — the ice rink is chilly
• Stretchy pants or jeans you can bend and move in
• Gloves are optional (some people like them for sweeping)

No skates or special equipment needed — everything else is provided.

### 🥌 What to expect

• A beginner-only, instructor-led class
• You’ll learn how to:
• Move safely on the ice
• Slide a curling stone (at your own comfort level)
• Sweep effectively (yes, there may be enthusiastic yelling — it’s part of the fun)
• No competition, no pressure — most people have never curled before

If you can walk carefully, listen to instructions, and laugh when things go sideways, you’re fully qualified.

• Multiple delivery styles are available (standing, partial slide, stabilizers)
• Instructors regularly adapt for different comfort and ability levels
• You can always take a break or sit out a round if needed

After class, we may head into Leesburg to grab a beverage and continue the fun!
