One of the most challenging tasks in business analytics is to how to best represent the data for machine learning algorithms. This talk discusses some best practices of feature engineering followed by a demonstration of how such techniques can be used to analyze and prepare the Titanic data set for survival prediction. It uses a high level visual interface offered by Data Refinery in IBM Watson Studio so that no programming is needed.

Tsun will start his presentation at about 6:30. We'll have meet-n-greet both before and after. You do not need to show up exactly at 6 nor stay until 9.
Tsun Chow has a PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from U. C. Berkeley. Formerly an IT professional at AT&T Bell Labs, Dr. Chow has been teaching IT and Business Analytics at a number of local universities in the Chicago area.
