WordCamp US just wrapped in Phoenix, WordPress 7.1 just shipped, and there's a lot to dig into. This month we're skipping the lecture format entirely — it's a community conversation about what just landed and what it means for the sites you're actually building.

1. WordCamp US Recap: What Was the Community Talking About?
Most of us weren't in Phoenix — so let's pool what we heard, read, and saw from the community. What are the big ideas coming out of WCUS this year? What's the WordPress project focused on heading into 2026?
2. WordPress 7.1 — What's New and What Does It Mean for Your Work?
7.1 just dropped. We'll do a quick tour of the headline features and then open it up for discussion:
- Responsive styling and interactive states (hover, focus, active) are now editor controls — no more custom CSS for breakpoints. Is that a win or a client-access problem?
- Async collaboration with Notes and @mentions — does this change how you hand off sites to clients?
- New Tabs and Playlist blocks, smarter media handling, and an AI Guidelines feature for controlling what AI tools can do on a site
3. Community & Networking
Plenty of time to swap WP war stories, troubleshoot what you're working on, and enjoy some of Durango's best tacos.
