Here’s a quick bit of information regarding the league that I run at Durham College/ Ontario Tech University:
- Games are held Thursdays from 6-11pm.
- I should have both of the fields
- Ideally, majority of games will occur between 7pm-10pm (This depends on how many teams we have in the league. If teams have a preference for earlier or later games, I will try my best to accommodate).
-Games are 50 min total in duration, with 2, 25 min halves. In the event of a tie team will play a 4v4 golden goal for 5 min.
-Rules are the similar to Whitby and Civic leagues (Throw-ins, corners, no slide tackles etc.) The complete list of rules are listed on the league website. Durhamregionsoccercentre.com
-
Summer Season anticipated start date is mid-May running to mid October, including playoffs - approximately 25 games
-
Playoffs are extended to approximately a month for a more intense competitive experience
-
Last season the winning team won $500 last year. If there are a sufficient number of teams, I will run 2 divisions once every team has played each other to determine whom will be in the Premier Division or the 2nd division.
-
If 2 divisions are formed, both winners of each division will receive a cash award. However, the winner of Premier Division (as it’s more competitive) will receive a higher cash award than the winner of the Second tiered division.
-
I record and keep player and career stats updated on the website weekly
Incentives:
-
Monies will be given to the top goal scorer
-
Monies will be given to the top Goal Keeper
-
Monies will be given to the league MVP.
-
If someone breaks a league record, that individual will also win money
-
league records will be posted on the website.
-
I run a complementary All-Star Game where I cover the cost of the field and I will supply beers for everyone for after the game.
-
I usually have players throw in $20 each and winning team takes the pot to make it more interesting for the All-Star Game.
-
connections to local restaurants and pubs for team/player food discounts
-
teams/players can keep their receipts in which a percentage can be used after the season for food and drinks
-
teams can order customized kits at a discounted price if desired (Teams cover the costs for their own kits). If teams are willing to place sponsors on their uniforms, I have a list of sponsors that will help cover the team uniform costs in return
-
winning team will be engraved in Championship Cup
-
winning team will be pictured with it on the leagues website as League Champion
-
more details available on my website with upcoming updates
The DSL league offers :
Competitive/Fair pricing with incentives!
Team fee is $3150 for approximately 25 games. On a 14 man roster it works out to $225 per player and equals 9$ per game…
-
In contrast., Whitby charges over $18-19 a game for 17-18 games at $300 per player that equals $4200
-
I also have player insurance for all players as well which is included in the price
