Hiking in Neanderthal Valley from Hochdahl to Mettmann!

✨ Sunday Hike in Neanderthal Valley — November 23, 2025 ✨

Hey everyone!
We’re heading out for a relaxed hike this Sunday.
We will hike through the well renowned Neanderthal Valley 🏔, among 🦬 Bisons, Aurochs🐃 and Tarpan 🐴 horses.
As usual, we’ll meet at 09:15 at Düsseldorf Hbf, but feel free to hop on the train at any stop that works for you.

Train schedule:
Dep: 09:30 Düsseldorf Hbf, platform 13 S 8
Arr: 09:41 Hochdahl, platform 1
The route is about 16.1 km, with 193 m up & 198 m down. Komoot tells us it should take around 4:19 hours, so we expect to be back at Düsseldorf Hbf around 15:00 — give or take, depending on breaks and pace.

Difficulty is moderate, suitable for most regular walkers.
