Join us for the ALMA Toolkit Workshop, an empowering event aimed at addressing crucial knowledge gaps in vaginal health and promoting self-management of intimate health. The workshop takes place at Waag Futurelab, June 29 from 13:00 till 16:00 hrs.

The event will be in English and is open specifically for people with vaginas, as it will involve a specialized anatomy class and autoexploration.

The ALMA Toolkit Workshop empowers participants with knowledge and tools to enhance their intimate health. The workshop challenges societal taboos promoting self-awareness, self-exploration, and self-management of their intimate health. Through interactive activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of their bodies, learn essential skills related to vaginal health, and have the opportunity to engage in open and supportive discussions. This workshop is a unique opportunity to break free from the shame and stigma surrounding intimate health and embrace a more empowered and informed approach to self-care.

The workshop is a response to the social taboos and shame surrounding the female body, which have limited women's access to knowledge and hindered their connection with their own bodies. The event is inspired by feminist practices from the '70s, particularly the self-gyneacological visit, which challenged medical violence and aimed to empower women. Despite advancements, reproductive rights are still contested, and a gender gap in healthcare and research persists. Furthermore, people with vaginas often receive inadequate intimate and sexual education.

About the ALMA Toolkit
The ALMA Toolkit is a set of educational materials and tools designed to democratise and destigmatise intimate health learning. It encourages self-awareness, self-exploration, and self-management of the body. The toolkit consists of four pillars:

- Card Game: A gamified self-awareness tool that creates a safe space for sharing intimate health experiences.
- Speculum and Anatomical Models: Educational tools to facilitate self-performing gyneacological examinations.
- Mini Bio Lab: Protocols and materials for experimenting and learning about vaginal bacteria.
- Online Community Platform: A platform for sharing self-exploration experiences and connecting with others.

The toolkit is open-source, low-cost, and easily accessible. It is primarily intended for use in workshops or collectives. Workshop facilitators will receive additional training to effectively utilise the toolkit.

The ALMA Toolkit is designed to be inclusive, and most of the physical objects and information will be available for customisation. People can freely download and create the toolkit. For those without access to resources, the option to purchase the toolkit will be available. Currently, the target audience is collectives and groups of people with vaginas aged 18 and above, but there are plans to adapt the toolkit for specific needs in the future.
