We would like to invite you for our 5th Web Performance & Operations Meetup. The theme of this evening is Cloud Management. We invited William Louth and Marc van Agteren to share their experiences around this topic.

William discusses changes in how applications & services are measured, monitored even controlled in the cloud along with some novel approaches. He will touch on practical but inspiring applications of system dynamics, control theory, quality of service & metering in the management of apps.

How we moved from the cloud to the cloud - design for failure
In this presentation Marc will talk about the impact of the April 2011 AWS outage on their setup and how they managed to get everything up and running again. Furthermore he will talk about what their initial cloud setup looked like and how it looks like now. He will discuss all the cloud services they’re using and how it helps them to maintain a steady uptime between 99.9% and 100%. Finally, he will give some practical tips which are directly actionable.
