About us

Dyscalculia is a learning disability that affects a person’s understanding of numbers, quantities, sequencing, & math concepts. There is very little awareness, advocacy, research, or support for those with dyscalculia and those experiencing its symptoms, especially within the adult population.

Are you someone who struggles with directions, managing finances, reading analog clocks, executive functioning skills, working memory, and low self-esteem? If parts of you resonate with these, then we would love to have you in group! No official diagnosis of Dyscalculia is needed. Because there is such a lack of awareness and understanding of it, it often goes undiagnosed, especially in adults.

During this support group we will discuss tips, tricks, and life hacks for learning how to better manage the roadblocks in our adult lives that come with dyscalculia. This group also offers a chance to share our own stories and challenges together, be around like-minded people, and build a community of people who "get" you! This is a low pressure group, and what we share is to be kept confidential within the group. Come as you are, and no pressure to share or even speak. Your comfort is what is most important!

Hi there!

A bit about this group: Dyscalculia is a learning disability that affects a person’s understanding of numbers, quantities, sequencing, & math concepts. There is very little awareness, advocacy, research, or support for those with dyscalculia and those experiencing its symptoms, especially within the adult population. With the research that has been done, dyscalculia is thought to affect roughly 3-7% of the population.

Are you someone who struggles with directions, managing finances, reading analog clocks, executive functioning skills, working memory, and low self-esteem? These are only a handful of areas that dyscalculia affects. If parts of you resonate with some of this, then we would love to have you in group! No official diagnosis of Dyscalculia is needed. Because there is such a lack of awareness and understanding, it often goes undiagnosed, especially in adults.

For this first meetup we will keep things very casual - we will get to know each other and play some games, color, or puzzle (Queermunity, our meeting space, has many of these available! They also sell coffee and such). We'll go over some brief group guidelines and expectations to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable! My intention is for this to be a very low pressure hang, and if you arrive to find that the vibes are not for you, there is no obligation to stay for the duration of the hour. This is a free support group. I do hope to see you there! :)
