
What we’re about
This group is looking for other E-bikers to take our E-bikes out on bike paths, roads and dirt. I’ll try to post at least two rides a week. Bike path rides are usually along a river or beach and range from 15 to 40 miles with very little elevation gain. Our city street and road rides can range from 20 to 35 miles with elevation gains from 500’ to 5000’. I pick cities to ride in that offer hills to challenge our e-bikes. There are those of us that have E-mountain bikes that are looking to take them on dirt, so I will be posting dirt rides which, for the most part, will be on fire roads (wide track). There are a lot of these roads in our open spaces and national forest which can open up new areas usually too far to hike in a day. Presently, this group will not be riding on single track dirt trails unless they are easy.

EBIKE RIDE - OLD PAVED ROAD - THE UPPER OLD RIDGE ROUTE

We'll be exploring the upper half of the Old Ridge Route on this ride. On 11/25, we did the lower half.

INITIAL MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: Vista Del Lago Visitor Center at 9:15am. We'll all meet here to use the restrooms before heading to our FINAL MEETUP LOCATION.

DISTANCE: 22 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: 2500'

BIKE RIDE DESCRIPTION: This will be on an old paved road with no cars

Griffith Park and LA River Loop ride

We meet up in the parking lot near the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. We proceed south on Crystal Springs Drive into the suburban hills above Los Feliz Blvd and then make our way near the Greek Theater onto the (car closed) paved Vista Del Valle Drive that snakes up into the hills. Vista Del Valle takes us past Cedar Grove, the Helipad, Bee Rock, the Haunted Picnic Table, Cathy’s Corner, Royce’s Canyon and finally down to Griffith Park Drive. We wind our way to Crystal Springs Drive and head north to the LA River for a sojourn down the dedicated bike path for about 5 miles, before returning to our cars.

MEETUP LOCATION AND TIME: 10am. This is Parking Lot #1 just above and south of the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round.

TERRAIN: Road bike lanes, dedicated bike paths, low volume traffic roads
RESTROOMS: Restroom at the start (next to the Merry-Go-Round) and then one is available at about 13 miles into our route.

Holiday bike ride and potluck at Joan's in Newberry Park!

Note: Rain cancels ride, but not potluck. More details to follow.
