2018 Small Property Landlord Symposium
How do you stay ahead of the changing market? Join us for our 3rd Landlord Symposium. This year we are packing in the most relevant topics for our Small Property Owners to keep them up-to-date on the pressing issues most relevant to their sustainability and success. Hot Topic: We informed you 4 years ago that inventory would be rising in the coming years, with 5,000 new units coming to Cambridge and more than 8,000 units in Boston being built. The large complexes are now actively leasing their brand new apartments offering great incentives for their many vacant units. Additionally, there are new hurdles on the landscape. We will give you an update on the status of the Cambridge/Somerville rental market and how to stay ahead of the competition. Hot Topic: Property Sale Restriction Measures Considered in Somerville and Cambridge will create a very interesting sales climate for Small Property Owners. Attending this symposium will enable you to make better decisions as a small property owner and protect your investment, keeping you informed of market conditions and threats. Hot Topic: With the changes in the tax code, you need to be aware of the items that may affect you the most. Join us for a discussion on Tax Topics in the New Tax Code. Hot Topic: Avoiding legal issues with tenants is always a good discussion. Hear from a leading Landlord/Tenant law attorney specializing in Small Properties. Guest Speakers: Stuart Schrier, Esq. - Avoiding legal issues with tenants Richard Parritz, Small Property Owner Association (SPOA) President - Address recent petition for Property Sale Restrictions Bill Scott, ePlace Principal - Market Overview and Update. Bring your own questions and the panel will try to address them or feel free to email in advance with questions or concerns. What we're about

Public Group

Educational workshops on real estate buying, selling, investing, green homes, mortgages, strategies for affordable homeownership and wealth-creation. Our workshops provide practical “how to” information and invite you to think about goals in real estate as they relate to broader life goals. We’ll talk about how to: - Build equity in your home - Save money on a mortgage - Assess the value of a property (singles, multis, and condos) - Successfully navigate your way through the buying process - Understand the local real estate market We provide comprehensive, detailed, market-specific information (including case studies and examples, where relevant) along with extensive resources for further learning. We foster active participation so that group members can learn from each other as well as from the course content. The facilitator, Rachael Burger, has been active in real estate for more than ten years, as a renovator/developer and former realtor. She hopes to empower participants through these workshops, which are offered as a community service of ePlace, a real estate brokerage firm in Cambridge.
