EAA106 VMC Club Meeting

A bargain 2 for 1 evening this month since we missed last month due to a technical snafu.

August's video scenario: You're flying a Piper PA-18 Super Cub to do some sightseeing, practice some maneuvers, and then come back and shoot some landings. You're the first pilot to fly it after an annual - what extra precautions would you take and what sorts of things should you be prepared for? What would you do?

August's question of the month: You are returning from a lengthy cross-country flight and due to excessive winds at your planned refueling stop, you are low on fuel. You now need to transition Class B airspace to get to the closest destination where fuel is available. How can you ensure you don't get routed around the airspace, and face the danger of fuel exhaustion?

September's video scenario: After practicing a number of commercial maneuvers to prepare for a checkride, you as our Cessna 172 pilot encounter an unusual mechanical issue while returning to the airport. How can you prepare for keeping the airplane under control in nonstandard configurations? What would you do?

September's question of the month: During flight, you notice an anomaly with the electrical system, with the ammeter and battery voltage indicating a discharge. What steps can you take to restore or prolong electrical power as you navigate to an available airport?
