Tahoe Rim trail, Marlette Lake and Flume trail (MTB ride)

The Tahoe Rim trail from Tahoe meadows is one of my favorite rides in Tahoe and the view from Marlette peak is spectacular (it's our group cover photo). I plan to experience both on this ride, as well as riding the famous Flume trail back to Tunnel road. This is about 24 miles and ~1700 ft of climbing. See the approximate route here:

We may alter the latter half of the route if rider consensus dictates.

Difficulty: This ride has some fairly technical sections and you should be comfortable with riding on/over rocks and riding on sand. The Flume trail has a hazardous drop off on the lake-facing side so you must have competent mountain bike handling skills.

I'll be catching the 10:00 shuttle from Flume Trail bikes, cost: $20.

It is also possible to self-shuttle by leaving a car at Tahoe Meadows.
We'll probably leave out of Tahoe Meadows at about 10:45 or so.

Flume Trail bikes also rents suitable mountain bikes if you need one.
In addition they have great food and beer and I plan on grabbing a beer there after the ride.

Please remember a helmet is mandatory and event host is not your "Sherpa". Bring what you'll need to fix your own bike, like tools, pump, tubes, and master link. Also the event host is not a bike mechanic so it's to your benefit to be prepared!
Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & Golden State Trail Riders. Guest are not allowed and all riders need to RSVP as a member.
