Alice in Oxford

An easy walking trail around the city of Oxford explaining the places and people which inspired Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland stories. Starting at the Ashmolean Museum we will visit Room 66, the Pre-Raphaelite Gallery and hear about the "Alice" links to the artists and patrons of Room 66. We will then walk via Museum Road to the Natural History Museum and visit the Dodo. From there we will go to Turl Street for a circular walk by the Cherwell River. Both the Ashmolean and the Natural History Museum ask for donations, so please donate as appropriate. We will stop for coffee and 30 minutes' free time in the Natural History Museum. The walk will all be along pavement or stone walkways - no need for walking boots and big rucksacks. Waterproof coat will be useful if raining. If time permits, we will also visit the Four Candles Wetherspoons, and hear about its links to Ronnie Barker.

Lots of venues on the walk. Option to arrive early and use cafe and facilities at the Ashmolean.
Travel
Start point is 10 minutes walk from Oxford Station. Frequent trains from Paddington and Marylebone, services stop at local stations on route. Chargeable parking near start.
