Details

An 8-mile flat linear walk along the coast from Shoeburyness to the historic fishing town of Leigh on Sea. We first see the many fortifications of the naval base at Shoeburyness, now converted to apartments with sea views. We pass the nature reserves on the coast, home to many migrating birds. We then arrive at Southend's 'Golden Mile' and Pier. We will stop on route including ice cream break from the original Rossi's Ice Cream Shop. Walk ends at Leigh-on-Sea fishing village, with its fisherman's house museum. The sea front is full of pubs serving locally sourced seafood, with great views across to Kent coastline. Lots of beaches for sea bathing and swimming. On this weekend the annual Leigh Regatta will be taking place, so lots to see.
