There was some confusion about whether this was taking place Saturday or Sunday, so, since we had such a good conversation this morning (on Saturday) we are now getting together on Sunday morning to continue the conversation. This will be good for the people who were under the assumption we were meeting Sunday morning!

A quick note about the RSVP number: If we have more than 4 people that's OK and you can still show up, though we try to keep these small as a sort of meet and greet. The "deeper" conversations happen elsewhere and later and are not visible from Meetup.

Were you at the last meeting? If so, what from that meeting that you remember should be made general information for people whenever they join the group or come to their first breakfast?
If not, what questions do you have coming into this?

Everything that follows after this sentence is less important than the fact that the speaker has 10 years of discussion facilitation, public speaking, leadership in various philosophy organizations on and off of college campuses, is an ex-activist of sorts, and has, probably the most crucial of all, a contagious passion for intellectual inspiration and bringing new people in to his wheelhouse. 

What is that wheelhouse? It is "underground theory" or "street philosophy" or basically when working class people, workers with earbuds, start getting critical and tuning in to big ideas. Between sociology, philosophy, and critical theory, what he does is "political phenomenology" and "socioanalysis." But this is all just jargon that is likely to come off as intimidating. That is not the point. What you'll find at any event where McKerracher is speaking is an earnest desire to understand, be understood, and revel in the kinds of ideas that a job-centric society has all but snuffed out. 

David McKerracher is an instructor at Boise State. He is also the founder of, and a full time teaching-researcher at, Theory Underground (TU). TU is an independent lecture course, research seminar, and book publishing institute for philosophy, theory, and critical media experimentation.
