Earthing with Earthen Fellowship Beavertail State Park

Details
What in the world is Earthing? Well… it’s electric! By choosing to walk with our shoes off, it enables the human body to be properly grounded and function accordingly with the environment. While walking on the Earth barefoot, ‘free electrons’ from our planet transfer into our body through the soles of the feet. Proven experiments have shown that electricity from the Earth cause beneficial changes in heart rate, decreases inflammation, reduces pain, and promotes healthy sleep. In addition, these electrons are some of the most potent antioxidants known to man. Inflammation, which in medicine is considered an important part of the healing process, is really an artifact caused by a lack of electrons in your tissues. All of these natural benefits are readily available to us if we simply slip off our shoes and feel the Earth beneath our feet.
Beavertail is a historic cliff side forest retreat that boasts some of the most gorgeous ocean views in all of Rhode Island. Our group will casually stroll the seaside nature trails as well as descend to a couple of secluded beaches. Quick dips in the water are optional... We will also make our way to the quaint yet impressive lighthouse museum. Beavertail was chosen for Earthing because the trails are relatively level, free from pointy things, and near the water on a hot summer day. The walk is 3.25 miles in distance. Bring sandals, water, and sun screen. We will meet at the second large parking lot on the right. This walk itself is rated moderate although the decent to the beach lagoons can be a bit tricky. Please take into consideration the heat, breeze, and barefoot adaptations when measuring your overall energy level.
After Beavertail, the expert hikers are welcome to join us a short drive away at Fort Wetherill. This portion of the event is rated advanced, but therein offers some of the most stunning natural phenomena in our state. You must bring hiking boots, a flashlight, extra water, and a proper lunch if you choose to go on this journey. The walk is a short 2 miles in distance but requires advanced agility. This hike is something else… We’ll partake in a casual picnic before entering the secret passages at the abandoned WWII fort. From there the group will descend, ascend, and traverse the bluffs, then dally in the tidal pools while eventually ending up at the natural cliff side beach where they filmed the Hollywood movie Moonrise Kingdom.
Our initial meetup at Beavertail is located at these precise coordinates: 41.452022, -71.399635
The directions to our second event will be provided on site.
The Earthen Fellowship is a community of like-minded individuals who enjoy our free time together in the beauty of the open air. Our events are not a contest. We are simply a group of nature lovers looking to have an enjoyable adventure with our friends. Please feel free to join us as we welcome you with open arms.
