Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing various aspects of industries, including its role in developing patents, attracting investment, and conducting clinical trials.

The evolving landscape of intellectual property rights in the realm of AI technology reflects the profound impact of artificial intelligence on innovation. With AI systems increasingly contributing to the creation of novel inventions, the issue of inventorship has become notably complex. To address this complexity, the United States Patent Office (USPTO) has provided clear guidance and frameworks to evaluate inventorship in AI-assisted inventions. By doing so, the USPTO’s aim is to ensure that human inventors receive proper recognition and protection for their contributions.

Kilpatrick will give an update on recent trends in venture capital investment in artificial intelligence and machine learning companies. Looking at different AI & ML industry segments, we compare them to investment activities in the overall venture capital markets. We will take a glimpse at typical deal venture terms for early stage and later stage investments. Still being a nascent technology, certain existing and developing subsegments of AI & ML have a higher potential of outperforming other industries in 2024 and beyond.

In the field of clinical trials, AI is streamlining processes by automating tasks such as patient recruitment, data analysis, and drug discovery. By harnessing the power of machine learning algorithms, researchers can identify suitable candidates for clinical trials more efficiently, analyze complex datasets to uncover valuable insights, and even predict patient responses to treatments. This not only expedites the drug development process but also improves patient outcomes by facilitating the discovery of more effective treatments.

Overall, AI's new role in patent development, investment attraction, and clinical trials promises to drive innovation, improve decision-making, and ultimately transform the landscape of various industries.
