Details

Come and critique our authors' work or have your speculative fiction work of 7,000 words or less critiqued by other writers in our friendly environment! Anyone can come and critique, but you can only submit a manuscript for critique if you have attended at least one Berkeley Critique Session before.

For the time being, we're continuing to hold our sessions via Zoom online conferencing software. You can access audio with just your phone, no internet required. Or for video and audio participation, use an Internet-enabled computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Please email Phil (admin@ebsffw.org) to request a critique slot. It's first come, first served, and you will need to follow the following guidelines to submit your story or excerpt: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ag4cvCJJQNDhyle3FIteMbaYKWUdf9swfnWHDwjXC_Y/pub

Just attending to critique? Two weeks before the meeting, links to the submissions and instructions for joining the session will be emailed from admin@ebsffw.org to members who have RSVPed yes. If you don't get this email, please check your junk email or promotional email folders.

Please RSVP no later than the Friday before the meeting so you can read the submissions!

Our rules of engagement explain the style of critique we use. Please read those here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RKp0hisz-RSZgE1xF65DzUhOwRQZ6JqwAJ5fbAwrCwU/edit?usp=sharing

If your work is being critiqued, we ask that you send $5 to the Meetup organizer to help pay our Meetup dues. All other members are encouraged to come listen, critique, and meet other writers for free.

We do offer critiques for works longer than 7,000 words as well. But you have to attend, and then submit to, one of these monthly sessions first. Please feel free to ask a member of the admin team for more info.
