# It's Pride!

Intermediate Rotary Waltz: 4-5:30 p.m.
Introductory Cross-Step Waltz: 5:30-7 p.m.
Social Dancing: 7-10 p.m.
$10-20 sliding scale (or pay what you can). Cash or Venmo only.

The first class (from 4-5:30 p.m.) will be on Waltz Efficiency and Rotation Mechanics, taught by Stefan W. Waltz is a rotational dance but how much rotational energy is there? The answer is complicated. The faster we turn and the more apart we are the more rotational energy starts to become an issue. There is a limit to how much the body can withstand and there is no reason to get even close to those limits. Come learn some in-depth technique that you can apply to your every day waltzing to make it more efficient and more ergonomic and allows for some unique moves that would only be possible with this extra efficiency.

The introductory class (from 5:30-7 p.m.) will be on cross-step waltz, which is an exciting newer style of waltz danced to slower music. No experience or partner necessary! This "beginner lesson" is great for anyone who doesn't yet feel confident in 3/4, even if you've taken a lesson before. Alannah F. teaches.

And then, it's our social dance party (from 7-10 p.m.) celebrating Pride month with Jay C. DJing our usual mix of mostly waltzes, plus some polka, swing, latin, two-step, and more! But maybe this month with a little more unapologetic celebration of who we are.

As always, EBW is a come-as-you-are, all ages, gender neutral, no-partner-required, ask anyone to dance event where we value consent and everyone is welcome.

Feel like volunteering? We are always looking for people to help out by sitting a door shift. In return for your time greeting peoples and handling moneys, you'll get in for free. Sign up here (even if you've volunteered before, so we know to expect you this time.)

Special Notes: Please wear non-marking shoes to the event, or dance shoes if you have them! We've been getting black scuff marks on the newly-refinished floor of the Finnish Hall, and some of them don't scrub off. Thanks!
In addition, we and many dancers will appreciate it if you can reduce or eliminate heavy perfumes/colognes or other scents. Please be mindful of those with sensitivities or allergies! Thanks again!
