FROM EMAIL: Spirit of '45: It's that time of year again, folks!

The Spirit of '45 Celebration! Each year we pull out all the stops to celebrate the grit, determination and patriotism of our Greatest Generation! Join us as we take you back to the day when America celebrated winning the World War II! San Diegans, along with the rest of America, took to the streets as the news spread that the Japanese had surrendered.

Join World War II Veterans, members of the WWII-era USO, swing dancers, historical reenactments and the rest of the Veteran community during this very special day. Gates open at 11 AM and the opening ceremony will begin at noon. Come grab a bite to eat, hear the band, see the sights and take a moment to talk to a member of our Greatest Generation about the special spirit that swept the nation after WWII, the Spirit of '45!
