Join us for a gently facilitated, online discussion exploring one of polyamory’s most talked-about – and often misunderstood – concepts: compersion, a term invented by the poly community some 45 years ago.

It’s been defined and described in many ways:

“Joy for your partner’s joy.”
“The warm fuzzy feeling you get when your lover lights up – even if someone else is holding the torch.”
“The opposite of jealousy.”

Sounds ideal and inspiring, but is it for real? Is compersion a character trait you either have or you don’t, a mystical power only accessible to meditation masters, or simply an emotional muscle we can strengthen with practice?

In this friendly discussion, open to both total newbies and seasoned poly wanderers, we’ll share our real experiences, common struggles, tiny triumphs, and consider how (or whether!) compersion can indeed be cultivated. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your own lived wisdom – all perspectives are welcome.

We will take the question as a starting point for a deeper conversation and spend time in breakout rooms to allow people to connect and chat with more people and hear more perspectives.
