Virtual Hike through Campbells Peaceful Valley Conservation Area

Virtual Hike through Campbells Peaceful Valley Conservation Area

Details

It has been so long since we have hiked together and I really miss the comradery and sharing the beautiful scenery of CT. So, if it is going to be a while, why not share a solo hiking experience? This way, you can visit the hike at your own time and think about the next time we can hike together.
The Campbell Peaceful Valley Conservation Area is composed of 3 trails: Yellow is the Overlook Loop, Blue blazes the Ridge Trail and Red/Orange connects to the Meadow Trail. I was only able to hike the the Yellow Loop today so I will have to go back for the rest at another time.
The trail took about about an hour and it included connecting to the Meadow Trail to the White Trail to view the Stoppleworth Farm Site. Along the way I noticed some blackberry bushes, flowering grapevines, blueberry bushes with the berries just starting to develop. There were a lot of alder, pine, elm and lots of poison oak! But I didn't see any poison ivy, weird....The loop was relatively brief, around an hour but it covered a wide variety of terrain: swamp, meadow and flat woodland but when you go please keep in mind that there are some steep passages-especially when you climb to the look-out as well as some very rocky portions of the trail. Hiking poles, bug spray and sturdy boots are all recommended.
The pictures posted will document my afternoon.
