Bigelow Hollow: West Ridge Trail to the Cat Rocks (8 miles)

We will hike the (West) Ridge trail (blue/orange) past the cat rocks to its end just over the MA border, then briefly hike a small section of the Breakneck Pond View Trail (blue red), and then return on the blue Nipmuck Trail, following the east side of Breakneck Pond. Total distance is about 8 miles, with an elevation increase of around 1000 ft. (The terrain near and above the Massachusetts border is a good simulation of the remoteness of, say, central Maine)

We hike as a group. If you leave the group to hike at some other pace or trail, you are on your own from that point on.

Time: 4-4.5 hours (approx.), 8 miles. pace: 2-2.5 mph
Difficulty is intermediate due to length, elevation increase, and sporadically rough terrain

Please wear appropriate footwear (i.e. hiking boots, no sneakers) and clothing, bug repellent, at least one quart of water per person, and high energy snacks. Dogs must be leashed and well behaved.
