Metacomet Trail, West Hartford Resevoir

We will meet at the 2nd blue light kiosk in the parking lot at 10:45 and leave at 11:00. We will follow the paved red trail as short as possible to get us on the Metacomet trail going north. We will take the Metacomet to within 1/2 mile of rt 44 where it descends and crosses Newton-Brainard Rd, a gravel service road in the park. From there we will take a combination of marked and unmarked trails back to the parking lot.

Total distance is about 5-6 miles with moderate difficulty, and an elevation gain of a few hundred feet. Pace is 2-2.5 mph.

Please wear appropriate footwear (hiking boots) and clothing, insect repellent, snacks, and at least one quart of water per person.
