Penwood Park Complete Loop

We will meet at 10:45 pm at the Penwood parking lot just west of Gale Pond on Rt 185 on the Simsbury-Bloomfield border. We will leave promptly at 11:00 am. We will hike 3 miles north on the Metacomet trail (steep first 1/4 mile) to the north end of the park at Wintonbury road. We will return on the yellow trail, which is a local trail in Penwood Park.

Total Distance: About 6 miles, easy to moderately difficult.

Time: 3.5-4 hours, depending on pace and conditions.

Elevation gain: A few hundred feet, but with a few moderately challenging ups and downs, many of which could be slippery from loose stones and leaves. Please wear appropriate footwear (i.e. hiking boots), bring hiking poles, snacks, and at least one liter of water per person.

Rain cancels.
