Mountain Rd Glastonbury to South Case and Shenipsit Trail

We will meet at the parking area at the end of Mountain Rd in Glastonbury at 10:45 am and and leave at 11:00 am sharp. (Mountain Rd is a left turn off rt 83 in Glastonbury, opposite where rt 83 takes a sharp right turn when going south). We will hike north along unmarked trails to the Case yellow-black trail, then head east along this, the yellow-red, yellow-grey, and red trails until we reach the Shenipsit. We then go south on the Shenipsit to Coop Rd, and take Coop Rd to the unmarked trail we started on, and back to the cars. The organizer reserves the right to use alternate, more interesting exploratory routes as conditions allow, within the allotted time frame.

Distance: About 7 miles, time: 4 hours

Difficulty: Moderate, a few moderate uphill sections with slippery leaves and roots underneath, and possibly a few stream crossings.

Elevation Gain: A few hundred feet

Pace: 2-2.5 mph

Please wear appropriate gear (i.e. hiking boots, poles) and clothing, insect repellent. snacks, and at least one liter of water per person.

Each hiker will be required to sign a liability waiver as a condition of attending this event. Rain cancels.
