Bigelow Hollow: Mashapaug Pond View Trail (Plus optional Bigelow Pond Loop)
Details
We will meet at the East Ridge Trail head parking lot (at the end of Bigelow Pond) at 11:15am and leave a 11:30am. We will hike the Mashapaug Pond View Trail (Blue-White), which is a 5 mile loop. (If this is too short for some, and there is sufficient demand, we will append an optional 1.3 miles by hiking the yellow trail around Bigelow Pond, which is a very interesting trail with a few massive glacial erratics)
Elevation gain: Moderate, with a few short, locally steep ups and downs.
Time/length: 3-3.5 hours/5 miles (6.3 with optional part, see above)
Difficulty: Moderate, due to some short but steep sections that may be slippery with poor footing.
Please wear appropriate footwear (i.e. hiking boots, no sneakers) and clothing, and bring at least one liter of water per person, insect repellent, and snacks. Hiking poles are recommended.
