Case Mountain Sunset

This meetup occurs on the first of just two days per year when the sun sets behind the Heublein Tower as seen from the Lookout at Case Mountain. (The other day is around August 21). We will meet in the factory lot on Spring Street at 5:15 pm, and leave promptly at 5:30 pm and hike to the lookout, then hike some of the Case Trails for 3 miles or so and be back to the lookout for the sunset by 7:30 pm. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight for the trip back down to Spring Street. Note that we must be back to the lookout before 7:30, since sunset is at 7:38

Difficulty: Easy to moderate, due to an initial elevation gain of 300 ft. You must be able to make it to the lookout (+300 ft.) without holding up the group.

Please wear appropriate footwear (i.e. hiking boots) and clothing, a flashlight or headlamp, and at least one liter of water per person.

Rain cancels.
