FRIDAY WALK: WILMINGTON-FOLKINGTON CIRCULAR (C.5 MILES)

Details
Kay is leading this walk and her description is as follows:
This is a lovely walk from the village of Wilmington, with truly stunning views. The walk is just under 5 miles long and takes 2.5 hours. There are three fairly steep inclines on this route: The first one is 8 minutes long, the second one is 20 minutes long, and third one is 12 minutes long, if taken at an ambling pace. There are four stiles.
The walk goes past Folkington church and then rises up Folkington Hill and along the escarpment, with a wide panoramic view of the Weald beyond, to Wilmington Hill. From here it drops downhill and goes towards The Long Man, but rises one more time to go around the back of the Long Man before coming down and approaching The Long Man from the East until you are directly underneath him. The churchyard in Wilmington is worth a visit because it has an ancient yew tree, reputed to be over a thousand years old. A very short walk on is the lovely Long Man Inn, which has lots of seating both inside and outside and offers soup, sandwiches, hot drinks, etc
There is free parking at the carpark in Wilmington, which has space for about 15 cars. If the carpark if full you can park along the road.
Pease be booted and ready to walk at 1030. In case of problems on the day, my mobile is 07535 615610.
