At Pashley you will discover 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas – the culmination of a lifetime of passion for gardening, an appetite for beauty and an admiration of the tradition of the English Country garden.

These graceful gardens, on the border of Sussex and Kent, are family owned and maintained – visitors often express delight at the attention to detail displayed throughout and the intimate, peaceful atmosphere.
All the ingredients of the English Country Garden are present – sweeping herbaceous borders, ha-ha, well maintained lawns, box hedges, espaliered rose walk, historic walled garden, inspiring kitchen garden, venerable trees and the Grade I listed house as a backdrop. The gardens are a haven for wildlife – bees, butterflies and small birds as well as moor hens, ducks and a black swan. Then, of course, the plants! Borders overflowing with perennials and annuals – the look changing through the seasons, but always abundantly filled, and each garden ‘room’ planted in a different colour theme.

Come mid-June the roses are glorious at Pashley Manor – the perfect time to celebrate these gorgeous blooms with a Special Rose Week at this quintessentially English garden on the border of Sussex and Kent.
Masses of gorgeous pinks can be found spilling out of their box hedged borders in the formal Rose Garden. In the Herbaceous Borders many red hued shrub roses in the beds are complemented by rich red climbing roses on the eighteenth century walls, while in the pool garden the unusual silver sheened petals of Rosa Burgundy charmingly mirror the gleam of the water. Such is the profusion of roses at this time that even the front of the house is covered in the pink tinged, creamy yellow flowers of the climbing Rosa Gloire de Dijon. Pashley’s blend of old fashioned and modern roses are complemented by foxgloves, clematis, London pride, sweet peas and summer flowering shrubs.

Over the Special Rose Week there will be the opportunity to take a guided rose themed walk round the gardens and there is a great selection of potted roses, from 30 times Chelsea Gold Medal winners Peter Beales Roses, available to buy – even the menu in the café features rose inspired dishes over this week!

As always perhaps those with cars could offer lifts to those without and simply share the petrol costs. If you would like a lift or can offer one please post below. I have space for 3 people in my car. We can meet by the entrance.
