Starlings Gap to the ADA tree. Length: 24 kms Elevation gain: 270m (Challenging)

Details

Starting at Starling Gap, the trail winds through lush forest featuring large tree ferns and a Myrtle Beech rainforest, eventually leading to one of Victoria’s largest living trees. The giant Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans)—the tallest known flowering plant in the world—is estimated to be around 300 years old. More historical information is available on the boardwalk surrounding the tree.

The area has a rich logging history. Along the way, we pass the remains of a collapsed trestle bridge and cross a shallow stream. While the crossing is easy, a stick or walking poles may help with balance.

Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending. It is your responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing.
Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Organisers do their best to minimise waitlists where possible, and priority will be given to reliable members who attend regularly and contribute positively to the group experience.
