Join park naturalist and avid birder Rob Bergstresser for a leisurely early morning bird walk along the beautiful Sawmill Trail. This is a perfect time of the year to search for breeding birds in the park. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars, but a very limited supply are available for loan during the program. Participants are also encouraged to download the free Merlin bird identification app to their smartphone prior to the program, although it is not required for the walk. Follow the links below to download the app:

Please wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes and bring along water and insect repellent if needed. Rain will cancel the walk.
We will be meeting at the Sawmill Trailhead off of Old Mill Road.
Directions from Beltzville State Park:
Turn left out of the park’s main entrance. Proceed past the Army Corps of Engineers building & go approximately 1 mile. Look for a Big Creek Grange sign on the left. Turn LEFT onto Grange Road. At the bottom of the hill, turn LEFT onto Old Mill Road. You will pass 3 houses on the left. After the last house, turn LEFT into the Sawmill Trail parking lot. PLEASE NOTE - The entrance to the Sawmill Trail parking lot is unmarked. If you proceed over the small bridge, you went TOO FAR!
