Free Women’s Empowered Self-Defense Classes

For over 3.5 years, Bellevue Police have been teaching the Women Empowered program, empowering women in the community with practical self-defense skills. Over 3,000 women have already participated!
The program covers 20 essential techniques divided into 15 lessons, each focusing on one or more of the 4 phases of an assault (by strangers or non-strangers). You can join at any time — the lessons are designed to be completed in any order.
No prior experience required
Ages 12+ welcome
Wear fitness/workout attire
Supportive and safe environment

Upcoming Classes (Fall Kickoff)
• Sunday, 10/05 – Class 1: Combat base, trap & roll escapes (standard, hair grab)
• Sunday, 10/12 – Class 2: Standard wrist releases (3 variations), trap & roll escapes (punch block, wrist on, spread hand)
• Sunday, 10/19 – Class 3: Front choke defenses (3 variations), guard get-ups (standard, false surrender)
…and the series continues with new skills each week until all 20 techniques are covered.
